Moby will release his sixth studio album last night on 10th march 2008. the album was recorded in moby’s home studio in manhattan ny and features a number of guest vocalists and includes the original 70’s mc grandmaster caz one of the writers of rappers delight, sylvia from kudu, the uk’s mc aynzli and the nigerian 419 squad.
moby on ‘last night’
‘”last night” is basically a love letter to dance music in new york city. what i love about the new york approach to dance music is the eclecticism and the open minded-ness on the part of the musicians, the dj’s, and the people in the bars and clubs. in making ‘last night’ i essentially tried to take a long 8 hour night out in new york city and condense it into a 65 minute long album.’
You can preview the upcoming release below.
Alice címmel jelenik meg Moby új kislemeze az év elején, mely a művész soron következő, Last Night című albumát hivatott elsőként promotálni.
A Németországban - digitális formátumban - január 14-én, Angliában pedig február 25-én napvilágot látó maxi négy tracket tartalmaz majd. A futurisztikus hip-hop szerzeményen az underground körökben ismert rapperek, Aynzil és a 419 Crew is közreműködtek.
Arról pedig, hogy idén milyen muzsikával is bűvöl el minket a mindig megújulni tudó New York-i zene-mágus, így nyilatkozott maga az érintett, azaz, Moby:
"A Last Night alapjában véve egy, a New York-i tánczenéhez íródott, szerelmes levél. Amit igazán szeretek New York-nak a tánczenéhez való viszonyában, az az eklektikusság, és a nyitottság, a zenészek, a DJ-k, és a bárok, valamint a klubok közönségének a részéről. A Last Night felvételeinél megpróbáltam egy 8 órás New York-i éjszakázást belesűríteni egy 65 perces albumba."
Mi pedig, kíváncsian várjuk a végeredményt!

Noze - Remember Love
The first twenty seconds of 'Only Love' are nothing short of AMAZING – a looped piano that sounds like 'Strings Of Life' as played by Chas and Dave. You can almost see Derrick May sitting at the piano in a fag-stained East End boozer, pint of old peculiar resting on top, a Babs Windsor lookalike at his side, washboard under his arm, knocking this little ditty out. Almost… A sense of order (of sorts) returns when the clipped, skippy drums drop and one member of this fantastically odd French band steps up to the mic. The stop-start broken Franco-English vocals during the verse add to the air of devious whimsy, while the deadpan singalong chorus – 'Everybody's happy to believe in love' – from another member turns the screw further. This is what Herbert gone rave might sound like – a bit of a novelty for sure, but one to savour. The DOP remix drops the piano (boo!), re-intrerprets the vocal in breathy FM rock style and adds more bite with some scratchy FX. Not a patch on the original obviously.

James Murphy & Pat Mahoney – FabricLive.36
n the first LCD Soundsystem 12”, James Murphy riffed off the idea that the kids were coming up from behind and the “better-looking people with better ideas and more talent” were going to overtake him. That seems a long time ago now. Murphy and LCD drummer Pat Mahoney’s entry in the Fabric series is the type of mix you make when you no longer give a shit whether you’re losing your edge. FabricLive.36 isn’t future-facing at all. Bar the David Byrne and Arto Lindsay downtown art-punk bookends, it’s wholly concerned with the most nostalgic of the dance genres: straight disco, and the type of house music we may as well call disco anyway—the stuff with real percussion, or samples of, and non-synthesised textures. This is a CD that includes a (late-ish) Chic track and what could be a clearer signal of purpose?
As well as Chic, from the “real” disco camp we get a couple of tracks each from the Ze, Salsoul and Vanguard labels. The Isaac Hayes-produced electronic funk of Donald Byrd’s ‘Love Has Come Around’ loops ecstatic falsetto around cavernously reverbed snare and cymbal. The bizarre and glorious ‘I Need You Tonight’ by Punkin’ Machine shifts giddily from a restrained verse to an addictive-as-a-video-game chorus before a kettledrum and handclap breakdown.
Among the best of the more contemporary tracks are the expertly looped sampler detritus of Daniel Wang’s much comped but always welcome ‘Like Some Dream (I Can’t Stop Dreaming)’ and Baby Oliver’s take on the evergreen discoid subject matter (stretching back to Kraftwerk) of the endless glide of the train ride. ‘Primetime (Uptown Express)’ is perfectly pitched electro-disco laden with Art of Noise airy gulps and belches.

Defected- Gilles Peterson In The House!!!!
Peterson has one of dance music's biggest and most diverse record collections. So big in fact that his collection has its own apartment (!), Brownswood, which also doubles as the name of the equally eclectic imprint that's home to the likes of Ben Westbeech and Soil & "Pimp" Sessions.
Peterson’s latest project, a mix for Defected’s In the House series takes us behind Brownswood's doors to deliver a triple disc mix of house, disco, soul, jazz and funk. Disc one is billed as Peterson's “first ever commercial house mix” and includes cuts from Dennis Ferrer, Blaze, Larry Heard, Roland Appel and Deetron. The second disc is a retrospective mix including tracks that have inspired and shaped many of today's dance producers, including Cerrone, Earth Wind & Fire and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. Finally, disc three is an unmixed collection of rare and unreleased tracks handpicked by Peterson from producers such as Kenny Dope, Osunlade, Karizma, Peter Kruder, Carl Craig, and Jazzanova. So itz seems vrey delicious, I cant wait to hold in my hand
